After interviewing for an exciting employment opportunity, the young candidate was rejected, “When I asked for real feedback, the interviewer told me that although my job skills and education were a good fit, some of my table manners raised a red flag. The position entails many client dinners and I guess I had a few bad habits that they saw at meals during the interview process.” The candidate continued, “I would have loved to have been taught proper table manners by my parents. I feel at a real disadvantage, and I am quite frankly, embarrassed by my lack of manners.”

Sadly the situation the interviewee faced above is not uncommon. Competition is fierce for good jobs and seats in good universities. There are many more highly qualified applicants than positions. Polished table skills are a needed asset and social skill in this competitive culture.

Every parent wants to launch their children into the world with the skills they need to succeed. Equipping children with good table manners is an important lesson that all parents should want to give to their children. Using good table manners allows the focus to be placed on the conversation not on the act of eating. Having good table manners gives people the confidence to participate in any dining situation with ease.

Start introducing manners lessons slowly to very young children and add more refined lessons as the child matures. Consistency and repetition are very important when teaching children. Parents will have to reinforce the rules time and time again until good practices become habit. Remind children whenever a slip in manners occurs but don’t scold or nag.

Practicing good manners daily will eventually lead to mastery and manners will become second nature. As children develop fine motor skills, their use of utensils and glassware will improve. With constant repetition, by the early teen years, kids will have built up a comprehensive collection of manners which parents need only fine-tune for teens to be capable of attending the most formal of occasions.

For the well being of the children, even busy families should find the time to sit down together each evening for a meal. The most simple of meals, including take-out fare, are fine choices. Make sure that the food is transferred and/or served in serving dishes and that the family uses dinnerware. If dinner is impossible on certain evenings, families can sit down later in the evening for dessert; make sure to set the table and use dinnerware and utensils.

Teaching children the proper way to set the table is a perfect start for introducing the use of utensils, plates and glasses. Explain where each utensil is placed, what it is for, when it is used, and the correct way to hold it. Young children love being given a responsibility and will happily and proudly set the table each evening. Put placemats, napkins, silverware, plates, cups and bowls within reach of children to facilitate easy table setting. A good idea in homes with small children is to purchase nice quality melamine dishes so when plates drop they will not break.

Children do not learn proper table manners overnight. It takes years of repetition and consistent training to refine their skills. Parents have eighteen years to help shape their child’s table manners so there is plenty of time to patiently work with them. Expect lots of errors and missteps, use gentle guidance, never scold or embarrass, just kindly correct and continue eating.

If parents begin teaching manners when their children are toddlers, by the time the kids are in kindergarten they will have mastery of the basics.

The following is a list of table manners that your child should have a good grasp of by age six.

? Wash their hands and face before sitting down to the table.
? Sit down in their proper seat and put their napkin in their lap.
? Wait to begin eating until everyone is seated and has been served. Many families wait until an adult gives permission to start eating.
? Stay seated in their seats without wiggling in their chairs, going under the table, or getting up and down.
? Say, “Excuse Me,” and ask permission to leave the table.
? Elbows do not belong on the table.
? Mouths should stay closed while chewing and pieces should be bite sized.
? “May I please” and “Thank you” should be used when children would like food and never reach across the table.
? Participate in the conversation during dinner and no interruptions when other people are talking.
? Slurping, burping, squealing, singing, humming are all sounds that are not to be made at the table.
? It is never kind or polite to make negative comments about what is being served for dinner.
? Before getting up at the end of the meal say, “May I please be excused?”
? Ask if adults would like them to clear their dinner plate.
? Thank the cook.

Preparing children for adulthood starts the moment the baby is placed in the arms of the mother. Teaching children to use good table manners is a wonderful gift that will serve them well throughout their entire lives. A ring is circular, and it is nearly impossible to find where the ring starts and where the ring ends. This is very significant because this is how love is represented in a marriage. Once a couple is married, that love is never ending, just like the ring. It continues on forever which is exactly what two people who fall in love want it to be about.



A ring can also speak to other people around you. It can give others a glimpse into your life, even if a conversation never takes place. This doesn’t necessarily mean that a person is married, but rather can signify promises that you have made, to yourself, or to someone who is close to you. It is both a joy as well as a huge challenge putting up a website for the first time in your life. Nevertheless, the experience can be exceedingly rewarding as well as fun.

I am one of the lucky few who can claim to earn a living full time from my websites. I am frequently asked how I do it, especially from people who have never built a website. Today, I want to share with you the key ingredients you need. I hope the pointers I provide will get you on the way.

If you intend to earn serious, long-time income from websites, my first advise to you, first of all, is to get your own domain name. Do not have your website hosted under someone else’s domain. You only benefit him, not yourself.

If you were to ask me, what are the tools you need to build a great website, I can count them with the fingers of one hand. You can probably bypass knowing any of the tools by hiring a web programmer to build your website for you, but that is hardly the way to do things, if you are serious about earning an income from the web. Although you do not need to know programming in detail, you need to have some basic web knowledge in order to build your own website. Without that, you are like a captain of a ship who cannot tell stern from starboard.

The first item you need to build your website is a HTML Editor. A HTML Editor is a software application for you to write the web pages. You can use a WYSIWYG software that shows you exactly how your webpage will appear. However, I encourage you to learn a bit of coding, as it will come in handy when you are ready to optimize your website.
There are several brand of HTML Editor in the market, including Microsoft Frontpage, Dreamweaver and so on. Find one that you can use comfortably.

The second item you need is knowledge of HTML Codes.
HTML Codes are instructions to tell the Internet how to display or format your pages. Get a book or get someone to teach you. Go on the web and search for a free tutorial. The basic HTML codes you need to know are:
• Title
• Body
• Head
• Html
• Headers (H1, H2, H3, etc.)
• Bold
• Italic
• Underline
• Hyperlink
• Table
In addition to the above, it would do you good to learn how to format size and color of your font, background, border. More advanced features such as CSS would be helpful too, but are still all together very easy, that even a dummy could learn it (so if you have to, find a book for dummies and learn all about it).

The third item to build your website is a Domain Name.
As mentioned earlier, you should get your own domain name. The domain name, also called the hostname or site name, will be your web presence. It is your brand. To use your website to earn an income, I would suggest you go for a “dot com” domain name. It is the most popular, hence, the most difficult to get.

You probably will not get the first domain name of your choice, and will need to try a few times before landing on one that is still available. This is a very important exercise, so take all the time you need.

Registering and keeping a domain name will cost you approximately US$10 per year or even lower. That is peanuts if you can earn the amount back. When you register a domain, choose a name that is descriptive. As far as possible, avoid using proper names – i.e. your own personal name, your child’s name, etc – unless you happen to be a celebrity, such a domain name is simply meaningless to visitors. To drive quick traffic into your web, try to get a domain name that reflects the activity of your website.


The fourth item for your website is Web hosting.
Web hosting is space that you rent on a server to host your website. You do not need to purchase a server - you don't even need to know how a server works. The web hosting company usually takes care of the technical details for you, and provide you a web-based control panel to upload your pages.

What's the difference between domain name and web hosting? Think of web hosting as a safe deposit box, and the domain name as the safe deposit box number. When you register for web hosting, you are buying space in a safe deposit box. The amount you pay should determine the amount of space you need. For that reason, the web hosting fee is directly related to the amount of space you purchase. The safe deposit box number remains the same, regardless the amount of space you use. In a similar sense, the fee for domain name is fixed regardless the amount of content you have on the web.

When you start your website, the amount of space you need will most likely be pretty low, less than 1GB, so do not pay for a lot of space that you are not going to use. You can always buy more space as your needs grow. If you pay for 5GB per year, and throughout the course of that year, you never use more than 1GB, then the balance 4GB is money wasted.

The fifth and final item you need is an FTP Software. An FTP Software is an application that enables you to transfer data from your computer to your website on the Internet, and vice versa. Some web hosting companies allow you to upload directly to their server using the web, but FTP software is usually speedier than the web option.
The FTP Software allows you to upload new pages to your website as well as update existing pages.

Now that I have listed out the five essential tools, I want you to get familiar with it before we go any further. Choose a domain name and register it. Quite often, web hosting companies allow you to register domains for free, or at a low price, if you get the hosting from them. In addition, acquire a HTML Editor – some can be found on the web and you can try it out for free over a time period. Sign up for a HTML tutorial or get one direct from the web.

Identify what obstacles are stopping you from achieving your goal like procrastination and any time wasters. You have to stay focus and do not go off your track. Focus on results. Ask yourself, is what I am doing getting me towards my goal or not?

We all have 24 hours in a day, but why is that some get more than others at the end of the day? Those who get more done work smarter, than longer. They know why they are managing their time and have a reason to do so.

Now the big question is what is your reason for managing your time? I believe time is our most valuable asset. Once you use it, you cannot get it back. Today is not your own. You are just a caretaker. When your time is up you give back what you made of your life.

What are some of the benefits of managing your time? First and foremost you get to spend time with the people who matter most to you. In order to achieve this you have to be discipline in your time management. Manage your time according to your priorities and at the end of the day you will not regret. Days are expensive so use them wisely.

Know your priorities. The things that must be done before anything else. Learn how to differentiate the major things from the minors so not to waste your time. To be able to work your priorities, list them in the order of importance and work from the most important to the least.

When talking to a girl, always maintain eye contact. Being caught watching the big screen sports behind her or ogling another beauty will do you no favors. Meeting her gaze, on the other hand, shows that you're interested in her without you appearing intimidated.

(Never do that) but we want to know that we can trust that what you are telling us is the truth. If you’ve lied in the past it will be a very cold day in Hell before she trusts you again. And she may want to check your phone messages and read your email and call you 10 times a day to feel secure that you’re trustworthy again. You may not like that but if you lie it may be the price you have to pay.

Intelligence: Women want to feel safe and protected and we want our men to be smart. Maybe even smarter than us. Women feel that your brain is your sexiest organ. So dazzle us with your brain and you will be surprised how stimulated we become. Kick her ass at “Jeopardy” and watch what happens.

Smile: We love your smile. We can’t get enough of it. It makes us want to touch you and kiss you. So brush and floss and see your dentist and keep your mouth kissably fresh.

Sense of Humor: If you can keep us laughing you are golden. We love to laugh and we love a man who can make us laugh. This goes back to the smart thing as well. You have to be smart to be humorous. Manners: Little things like manners are very important. Women don’t want their man to drive up and reach over from the driver’s seat and open the passenger door or just wait for us to open the door. We want to be with a man not a boy. That means no farting, belching, toe or nose picking, spitting, or smacking your lips when you eat. We want to know we can take you in public and we won’t be embarrassed. And don’t forget we also like to show you off to our girlfriends and we want them to approve. You want the girlfriends to think you’re a “Keeper”.

Sensitive: That whole thing about being “Sensitive” and getting in touch with your “Feminine Side” are all very true. A woman is waaaay more attracted to a man who isn’t afraid to show his feelings and be gentle and sensitive. We actually think that makes you more manly. A man who clams up and thinks being macho is what we want is very wrong. One of the things that is extremely attractive to a woman is when it’s obvious that you are attracted to us. There is nothing hotter than seeing how much we turn you on. Don’t be afraid to show
that. But of course there are limits and this can easily be overdone. Be careful about showing things like that at work or you might find yourself in a sexual harassment situation. And if you decide to try to tip your hand to a woman and show your interest, remember to keep it subtle. No woman likes a STALKER or a HORNDOG! We love to know that we are getting to you, but not in an obnoxious way. You may have to make some changes in
your behavior. But of course, they’ll be changes for the better and you will most likely be happier for it.

Sincerity: This is a little like honesty, but what I mean is if you need to change some of your behaviors to be more attractive to women then don’t just do it to get the girl. This is something that has to be real. If you think that’s not you, then maybe you should think about making a change. You can decide you don’t want to change, that you like yourself the way you are, but if that was working for you then you probably wouldn’t be reading this article. You were drawn to this piece because you must truly want to know how to be better with
women and if you sincerely do then you may need to take an honest look at yourself and decide what you want because it has to be real.

Employed: OK. This is a no-brainer, but truthfully there are some men out there without jobs that think they can get all the women they want. I have no idea what makes them think that, but their egos are on overtime. Women need security and we want a man who can provide for us. That doesn’t mean we don’t want to work, but it does mean that we want to know that you are a responsible MAN.

Has Own Place: OK. Matthew McConaughey was really cute in Failure to Launch but that was a comedy. Seriously we don’t want to have a sleepover at your Mom’s house. Having your own place just shows us again that you are a responsible adult. And it does help if your place is decorated nicely. I don’t mean you have to hire a decorator, but we’re not drawn to frathouse chic. Impress us with your style. Again we want MEN not BOYS!

Has Own Car: This may not be important if you live in New York or in a place where the public transportation makes owning a car unnecessary but in most of the world you need a car to pick up your date and take her out. It is important to mention here that even though we love luxury cars we don’t need that in our man. Women love men with all kinds of cars, but FYI keep your car clean (especially the inside). Nothing says SLOB more than a dirty car. Take out the fast food wrappers and keep it neat and smelling nice.

Affectionate: We really do love to touch and be touched. And I am not talking sexually here. But try holding her hand when she’s not expecting it or gently rubbing her back. Little touchy things like that mean a lot. Rub her arm when you’re reading the paper or do little things like foot and hand massages. Women love that.

Be Considerate: We appreciate the little things like holding a door open or not walking ahead of us. If we’re sleeping make sure you turn out the light when you leave. Show her you care by picking up after yourself. When you get some dessert out of the fridge ask if she’d like some or make sure you leave some for her. Just basic consideration is so important to us.

Thoughtfullness: This may sound like consideration, but it goes a little further. Being thoughtful of her needs goes a long way. Maybe give her a call from work just to see how she’s doing. While we love that we don’t want to be smothered with a bunch of calls all day long. Bring something home for her when you go to the store, like some fresh flowers (I know that’s cliché, but that’s because it works) or maybe some of her favorite ice cream…just because. This shows us that you are thinking of us and that makes us feel important and special.

Those 2 words important and special should be burned into your brain. If you can always make a woman feel important and special you will be an irrisistable Chick Magnet.

Both may have gone through bad relationships earlier, but when they do meet up, they should not allow the old “baggage” to be carried along, but should start anew and be as though this is their first ever date and that there was no one in their lives earlier. So do avoid talking about the earlier relationships.

Get to know each other a little more now

Now that you have finally met because of online dating, you should try and find out all that you could not when you chatted online. You build up a good rapport online; now see if the chemistry gets going too. This aspect is very essential in any relationship. The online dating was fine, but practicality is also a part of the game, and you have to see if you appeal to each other visually too. You would have obviously seen each other’s photographs and even spoken with a web camera on, but reality is often different.

If you make yourself appealing by your talk and ensure that the other is comfortable, then automatically, positive vibes and feelings will come into the picture and the relationship will move ahead. However, no matter how much you like each other at first sight, do not bring the topic of marriage into the picture as yet. This may make the partner a bit wary if he or she needs a little more time to decide whether this is what they really want finally. Given time they may want a permanency in the relationship too, but not so early maybe.

Online dating gives a comfort level to partners

With all the ground work that has gone into this meeting by online dating services, it is now up to the two people concerned to make each feel as comfortable as possible in each other’s company, instead of wanting to get away from each other. You have run the whole gamut of preliminaries already, so tread carefully and slowly and ensure that you are laying a firm foundation to the relationship. With plans for the next meeting already made it should give a feeling of well being and self confidence that things are going in the right direction.

Patience and considerate behavior will win over the person even more and they will want to be with you very soon again. You should thank online dating services for doing you this big favor in helping you to find a perfect partner and maybe mate. Do not give up hope if you have been through a bad phase emotionally once, because with online dating, you will not be lonely for too long a time.

A little known method to increase the relevancy of AdSense's ads on your site without modifying your content visually is by forcing AdSense to focus on or ignoring certain sections. This is called "section targeting."

Section targeting allows you to suggest sections of your text and HTML content that you'd like Google AdSense to emphasize or downplay when matching ads to your site's content. By providing Google AdSense with your suggestions, you can assist Google AdSense in improving your ad targeting. Although implementation is easy, I recommend that only those familiar with HTML attempt to implement section targeting.

To implement section targeting, you'll need to add a set of special HTML comment tags to your code. These tags will mark the beginning and end of whichever section(s) you'd like to emphasize or de-emphasize for ad targeting.

The HTML tags to emphasize a page section take the following format:




You can also designate sections you'd like to have ignored by adding a (weight=ignore) to the starting tag:


With these tags added to your HTML code, your final code may look like the following:

This is the most important content of your webpage. You prefer Ads being shown related to this content.



Other irrelevant or low-paying keyword-content here




You can use section targeting to make suggestions about as many sections of a page as you like. However, please be aware that Google AdSense can't guarantee results, and that it may take up to 2 weeks before Google's crawlers take any changes you've made to your site into account.

In order to properly implement this feature, you'll need to include a significant amount of content within the section targeting tags. Including insufficient content may result in less relevant ads or Public Service Ads. In addition, please keep in mind that this feature should only be used to emphasize significant sections of your site's relevant content. It is against Google AdSense's program policies to manipulate the ad targeting to result in ads that are not relevant to the content of your pages.

So the bottom line is to use section targeting wisely. This means you do not wrap a single sentence or even a medium-sized paragraph in section targeting tags.

One real-life example that I've used myself in the past is ignoring menus. NOTE that Google AdSense ignoring your menus does NOT mean Google's Crawler will so no worries there. I had a menu section with links to articles on a huge variety of topics. Most topics were totally unrelated to the specific page / article. Since I wanted ads to be relevant to the currently viewed article, I wrapped my menu in ignore tags and wrapped my article in ad_section targeting tags. After a few weeks, my Google AdSense ads did become much more relevant and I didn't see the random ads that were related to the topics in my menu anymore!

An enormous pile of CVs to rifle through after a huge response to your job advertisement is all well and good, but how can you be sure that the owners of these CVs will actually have the skills required to do the job? How do you optimise the response to your advertisement so that you attract the perfect candidate?

Firstly, you must know exactly what the job entails. Knowing the title is not enough. If you want to attract the right candidate you have to produce a clear job description, detailing the position of the role within the company and expectations of the successful applicant.

Now ask yourself what your ideal candidate would be like. A person specification focuses on the skills, experience and qualifications that are needed for an individual to be successful. Consider what skills you are looking for in a candidate – would high academic grades be a good indicator of their suitability for the role or are soft skills more important?

When it comes to applicants’ experience, think about specific areas rather than the number of years they have acquired, as this will ensure that you don’t unintentionally eliminate those who have gained substantial experience in a shorter period of time than usual. A good indication of a candidate’s social skills and attitudes towards others is what their interests and achievements outside of work are, so asking for these details can also be useful.

Both the job description and person specification are of considerable value when using recruitment agencies, as the more information you are able to provide them with, the more successful they will be in putting forward suitable candidates for consideration. You can maximise the effectiveness of your agency by providing comprehensive job and person specifications so they fully understand your requirements.

Think about the level of response you would like to receive from your job advert. For junior or graduate positions it might be better to have a greater choice of candidates, whereas for senior and specialist positions it is often more beneficial to receive half a dozen excellent applications rather than hundreds of standard ones, which is where a recruitment agency can prove to be an essential resource.

After assessing the competition and getting an idea of what other positions you are contending with, you can word your job description or advertisement so that it stands out. Words such as ‘leading,’ ‘global,’ and ‘unrivalled’ will work well in giving your company greater appeal than others.

Finally, before you place the advert or contact your recruitment agency, imagine that you are the applicant and ask yourself whether or not the job is appealing. ‘Would I apply for this job if it were in my specialist area?’ Making sure you focus on the benefits for the candidate should help to attract the right people.

You have been recently released and need a job to get on with the rest of your life. Hopefully you have learned that life is all about choices. The choices you continue to make will shape your life. The job search is all about choices too.

Because you have a criminal record, you will be faced with different challenges than the average job seeker. Your record will make your job search more interesting. There is a choice to be made here too. You can do what many ex-offenders do and hope that a prospective employer will not hold your record against you. Another choice is, you can make yourself legitimately competitive in the open employment market by developing the skills and attitudes that will allow you to compete for a job.

Can you tell an employer in five minutes or less what you can do and how your skills can benefit him? How is your dress? Do you look like you are going to a club or to hang out with some friends or do you look like a businessman with a product to sell? Do you have definite plan of action that includes of prospective employers to call on? Do have a resume that outlines you skills, experience or qualifications? If you answered “No” to any one of these questions, you have some work to do.

Step One: Identify your skills. I bet if you really look, you have at least 30 skills that would benefit an employer.

Step Two: Develop a resume that a prospective employer can look at and get an idea of what type of person you are and what you have to offer.

Step Three: Decide what type of work you want to do and how your skills will help you be successful in the field you choose.

Step Four: Develop a list of prospective employers to call on. Get help from friends, relatives, and members of your community to help you get leads for open jobs. That is called “Networking.”

Step Five: Get your wardrobe together. The clothing you wear both on your job search and interviews should be neat, clean and professional. Your clothes should say “I am the person for this job!”

Step Six: Practice you interview skills. Anticipate questions and practice answering until your responses sound confident and natural

Project a Powerful Sound Image
1. Smile when you speak on the phone. The positive intonations from your smile will be heard in your voice.
2. Take several deep breaths before the interview to relax yourself.
What to Say
1. Have your resume and other data handy so that you can refer to the information when the interviewer asks you questions or when you need to talk about your accomplishments and work history.
2. Be prepared for screening questions that address what, when, why, and how.
3. Listen carefully to the interviewer, and respond directly to the questions asked.
4. Use concise fact-filled sentences.
5. Interject short, verbal responses to acknowledge the interviewer’s statements and show that you are attentive and engaged. I.e., “I agree,” “Yes, I see….”
6. At the end of the interview, ask for a formal meeting if the interviewer has not already requested one. If you sense the interviewer is unwilling to commit, ask if there are any concerns that you can address immediately and restate the match between the company’s needs and your background.

The most important thing that an employer wants to know is how you can contribute and bring value to their business. This is a universal rule, regardless of what you do, and where you are.

I am a headhunter recruiting senior investment bankers. My clients are among the most demanding people in the world. My candidates are among the highest income group in the market. The fees I charge are of course very expensive. To justify this, I need to re-write resumes in a way to tell employers what they want to hear.

It will make no sense to the hiring manager if you write these:

Leading, motivating and evaluating team members
Forward analytical thinking
Strong networking and negotiation skills

Though these phrases are pleasing to the eyes, they won’t gain you interviews or job offers. You need to support with facts, of how your analytical thinking or negotiation skills had contributed to your work or the company you work for.

When writing your resume, write things that hiring managers wants to know. You have to make it as precise and specific as possible. A couple of strategies here.

Strategy One – Play With Numbers
Numbers are straight forward, easy to understand and no tricks. Play around with measurable figures.
Not specific: Involved in an award-winning TMT research team.
Specific: Key member of a TMT Research Team ranked number one by Euromoney in 2007 (third in 2006).

Strategy Two - Analyze What The Hiring Manager Wants To Hear
Results. Hiring managers want to know how you can add value to their business. Here’s how a Credit Marketing Manager/Corporate Dealer described his job.

Mr. Headhunter initiated, developed and managed a US$47 million portfolio of corporate clients. He increased loam volume by 18% and contributed to achieving 23% and 40% growth in branch non-funds and foreign exchange income respectively.

Prepare Your Answers
Different employers have different expectations, depending on the industry you are in. Always analyze the position you are applying for and make a list of what the hiring manager wants to hear from you. Prepare your answers and include them in your resume. Never put up 20 bullet points listing all your daily duties. Employers care about ‘results’ more than ‘process’.

How do you define success?

If you are like most people, your definition of success is based on external factors. A nice house, perfect children, a trophy wife or husband, nice vacations, lots of material things, and of course, a great big salary.

What price will you pay for external success?

This is a question worth thinking about. Are you willing to work 10, 15, or 25 years at a “just a job” that you don’t really enjoy? Will all those material things make a miserable work life worth it in the end? Will you even have time to enjoy these things? Certainly, others in your family will enjoy these things. Is that enough to make it worth YOU spending all those years at the office doing meaningless work?

Will you work many years just so SOMEONE will approve of you?

Again, many of us do this as well. Your mother-in-law is proud, and your wife or husband brags about your job title at social gatherings. Does this make it worth it?

There are tradeoffs

As a public speaker and author whose life mission is to help people discover and do what they love, I can tell you there are tradeoffs. People over 40 usually know, deep inside, that their 20 years of working have met external society standards, but in many cases have not met their internal need for joy in their work.
As a college professor, I have taught thousands of students who are very focused on grades and making lots of money, but who have not been taught exactly what work FITS them best.
Both age groups, the over 40s and the students, are left confused, scared, and lost.

How do you define success from the inside out?

First, you must have a vision of what you want. What work excites you? Is there someone who you envy — someone who does similar work? If you had 50 million dollars, what work would you do right now?
Next, write down what you want. It is amazing what happens when you write down what you want. In many ways, it forces you to see your dream from a new perspective. Try it now for yourself. Write down the work you really want to do. You might write something like:
“The work I really want to do is………and the reason is………”
I have found, in my research and in my life, that when we know the reasons WHY we want something, then we can start to move towards it.

Talk to others

Many people stop short of their dreams by not talking about what they want. It almost doesn’t matter who you talk to, as long as you discuss your plans with others. They will, of course, offer their opinions; ignore them.
You are simply sharing what you have already decided to do.

Take small steps

Every success in life starts with a small step.
Let’s say you have a vision of yourself as a high school history teacher (I always thought it would interesting to dress up in the era of the period I was teaching to inspire my students). You have written down that you plan to become a teacher because this is something you enjoy, and because you believe you could make a difference in the lives of your students.
Now you start to tell people your plans. By doing this, you actually start to commit these plans to yourself, and it will be hard to turn back. You call a local school, and set up a meeting with a high school history teacher to find out exactly what you have to do next. Then you call and have a college send you enrollment papers to start a program to get the credentials you need. Now there is no turning back.

Now measure your steps

Now that you have committed to your new life, you’ll have to measure your steps. First, talk to your family, and come up with a plan to accommodate the new life you are working towards. You may have to adjust your standard of living, or maybe just pay more attention to your spending.
You’ll have to measure your progress towards your goal, and plan where you will focus next.

Learn to celebrate

You will be disappointed if you wait for a family member, or anyone else, to reward your progress. The rewards will have to come from you. I have learned that, when a person starts to live a life of integrity, this is reward enough.
You no longer have to compare yourself to others. It no longer matters who has the better house or car or spouse!!

The cycle starts over

As you make progress towards your new goals, you will continually adjust your vision to the reality you seek.

How do you define success?

When you define success as a contest to keep up with the new toys others have, you will always lose. There will always someone new to compete with. But when you do the work you love, and that FITS you, you will be happy and content inside, and just grateful that you have found your own authentic path. This is the best reward of all.
Now you will start to appreciate others without the need to compete.

Start to move towards doing the work you love. It will not be easy, but it will be worth it!

Everyone has dreams, but all too often they let these dreams fall to the wayside and end up wondering years later whatever happed to all of the dreams that they had when they were younger. This doesn't have to be the case, however; it's possible to not only hold on to your dreams but also to make them come true by letting them influence your life and your career choices. Instead of simply saying that they're nothing more than dreams, you can make a conscious decision to embrace those dreams and see them through to the end. Not only will you get to see your dreams become real, but you will find that by letting them influence the work that you do and the direction that your life takes you will be much more satisfied with your life's work in general.

Recognizing Your Dreams
In order to live your dreams and let them lead you to your dream career, you will first need to realize exactly what your dreams are. Take some time to consider the things that you want and what you would like to see come to pass in your life; these aren't the fanciful obsessions that you might get from time to time that will pass in a matter of days or weeks, but are instead the lifelong ambitions that you've held on to ever since you were introduced to the concept. Look into your heart, see what's really important to you and what you would like most of all to see happen in your life, and that is where you will find your dreams.

Relating Your Dreams to Your Work
When you start seriously thinking about your dreams and comparing them to your life as it is right now, you might wonder how you're ever going to be able to reach your dreams from the place that you are in life. Look at your job and the things that you do, and try and imagine what it would take in order to reach your dreams from this starting point. For some people this might be easy, and you might have been living out portions of your dreams without even realizing it for quite some time. You may notice that your volunteer work is what you love.

For others this could be a rather difficult task, however, since they may have taken the job that was needed at the time and then never really got a chance to start working toward their dreams again. Consider where in your career you are, and whether it's possible to get where you want to be within that same career path. If it's not, then you should start researching different career options until you find the one that will take you to your dreams and help you make them come true.

Using Your Work to Follow Your Dreams
When you can see yourself reaching your dreams from the career that you have, then it's time to start putting your energy into following your career path to the point where you can reach your dreams. Set goals for yourself and for your career, and keep trying after every setback until those goals are reached. It might not always be easy, but once you have the career that's right for you making it to your dreams will seem to be a natural progression.

The boy still in school is aware that men a few years older than he have started from small positions in either the mechanical or the business departments of local factories and that they are now doing useful work in the world at good wages or salaries. On the eve of graduation from grammar school, high school, or college he naturally wants to know where he may find his right place in life.

One of the things a good business man wants to know about a proposed undertaking is whether it is in a declining, a stagnant, or a developing state. Suppose, for instance, an investment is to be made in real estate. Few men care to buy land in a locality where values are steadily decreasing.
