There is something a little bit quirky about human nature, particularly when it comes to major purchases, for instance buying a laptop. These little convenient pieces of machinery put a major dent in the resources; you have probably spent around $1000 or up for a new machine. But for some reason, you will now balk when it comes to purchasing any accessories for it, and that includes a new case!

Even people who concede that they may need to buy a carrying case for their laptop will probably try to appease their guilt over the major purchase in the first place by going for a warehouse priced case, but this is really not the best way to go. Keep in mind the cost of your laptop, but then think of that case as a protection for that very valuable piece of equipment. The last thing you need or want is to replace it, and a good carrying case is the first line of defence. Let’s take a look at some considerations when it comes to the case that is right for your laptop.

Weight bearing. A laptop is not too heavy, but all of us bear weight in different ways. If your shoulder tends to get sore easily, it is probably worth it to look for a bag with a good strap system that can spread the weight around evenly. Good padding is also important so you don’t get marked!
Protection. Any time you carry your laptop around, there is the chance that it may get banged around or even dropped. Major catastrophe if you have a thin little case, but you can avoid damage to your machine with a case that has the right protective measures. Durable outside protection in the form of waterproofing, along with a lining that has air pockets or Styrofoam can really save you a lot of grief.
Extra space. If you are carrying your laptop around, odds are it isn’t the only thing going with you. A good case will have some extra spaces for USB wires, pens, pencils, maybe even paper. Look for a case that makes one bag possible for everything you need!
